BSides Adelaide 2025 Calls for Talks and Villages

Date: Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th May 2025

Location: Adelaide Oval, North Adelaide, Australia

Our event focus is to: PASSIONATELY COLLABORATE, EDUCATE, MOTIVATE & COMMUNICATE.

Call for Villages

We are thrilled to invite you to join us for our second BSides Adelaide in May 2025 at the iconic Adelaide Oval. Our call for villages brings a unique opportunity to share your expertise, network and collaborate, educate and empower your community in a vibrant and collaborative setting.

Why you should host a village:

BSides Adelaide is not just another information security conference; it's an event driven by the community, for the community. Security BSides events are typically organised as informal, grassroots gatherings and are known for their inclusive and open nature. Villages are dedicated spaces about a specific topic which should focus on hands-on activities and workshop events.

What we're looking for:

We are seeking diverse and interactive villages that cover a wide range of interests withing the information security or related domain, that can engage attendees through hands-on activities, workshops and collaborative thinking. Village proposals should align to the broader BSides Adelaide 2025 theme: PASSIONATELY COLLABORATE, EDUCATE, MOTIVATE & COMMUNICATE.

We encourage submissions across conventional and emerging security topics. Examples could include but are not limited to:

Capture the Flag (CTF): Hone hacking skills, solve real-world scenarios, and collaborate in cyber security challenges, fostering expertise and teamwork.

Lockpicking and Physical Security:A fun and educational space to explore lockpicking, understanding lock mechanisms, and access vulnerabilities, suitable for all skill levels.

Careers: Unlock career opportunities, refine resumes, practice interviews, connect with employers, and gain mentorship and insights for industry success.

Emerging Technologies: Focus on new trends such as AI, blockchain, IoT or quantum computing, and offer demonstrations or hands on experience in how this might shape the future of security.

Submit an idea:

To be a part of this exciting event, please submit your village proposal by Friday 28 February 2025. Proposals should include a brief description of your village, its objectives, and any special requirements. Our team will review all submissions and contact you regarding your participation.

The event will take place over several unique spaces at the Adelaide Oval. We want your village to be in the environment best suited for your idea.

As part of your proposal, please nominate your top three preferred spaces from the list below. You should consider things such as size, layout, and location. We’ll do our best to accommodate your preferences; final allocations will depend on availability and event requirements.

Call for Talks

Calling all security professionals, researchers, and enthusiasts!

We are thrilled to invite you to join us at BSides Adelaide in May 2025. Our call for talks brings a unique opportunity to share your expertise, network and collaborate, educate and empower your community in a vibrant and collaborative setting.

Why you should present a talk:

BSides Adelaide is not just another information security conference; it's an event driven by the community, for the community. Security BSides events are typically organised as informal, grassroots gatherings and are known for their inclusive and open nature.

What we're looking for:

BSides originated as a forum for rejected papers for Blackhat. In that spirit, we are seeking talks that may have been rejected from other conferences, or that are unlikely to be accepted at ‘typical’ cyber security conferences. We also welcome first time presenters interested in delivering their first ever talk. We want to be inclusive and hear what you are passionate about! The talk can’t have been presented before or must include major updates to the content. This includes if you submit your talk to multiple places and get accepted for a talk prior to BSides Adelaide for the same presentation. We will provide support for those who are nervous or need help with public speaking.

Submit an idea:

To be a part of this exciting event, please submit your talk proposal by Friday 28 February 2025. Note, each talk will have 30 minutes allocated per presentation, followed by 10 minutes of Q&A. Our team will review all submissions and contact you regarding your participation.
